Adagio Umbro is a countryside bed and breakfast near Spoleto, in the heart of Umbria. It offers three guest rooms with private bathrooms, breakfast, internal parking, Wi-Fi and access to outdoor spaces, with an optional tennis experience available by reservation.
The B&B is designed for couples, women travellers, solo travellers and small groups of friends who prefer a more personal stay, a quieter setting and the freedom to explore Umbria by car.
Located approximately 3 km from the historic centre of Spoleto, Adagio Umbro combines easy access to the town with the space and atmosphere of the surrounding countryside.
How the project began
Adagio Umbro was created from a personal decision to build a life in Italy and develop a hospitality project connected to Umbria, its landscape and its slower rhythm of travel.
After moving to Italy and studying business administration at the University of Bologna, I began developing the idea of creating accommodation that would feel personal, practical and closely connected to the destination.
Together with my husband, we purchased this historic property near Spoleto and began the long process of restoring and adapting part of it for guests.
A historic property in the Umbrian countryside
The earliest known records connected to the property date back to the 13th century.
The estate has changed over time, but its historic structure and countryside setting remain central to its character. The guest rooms are located in the historic tower, with one room on each floor.
Each room has its own private bathroom. The guest accommodation is separate from the owners’ private residential area, while some outdoor and common areas form part of the wider property.
Because of the historic architecture, the building has several stairs and no lift. The accommodation is therefore not suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
A small and practical place to stay
Adagio Umbro has only three guest rooms and accommodates a maximum of five overnight guests.
The limited number of rooms helps maintain a more personal atmosphere and makes the property especially suitable for couples, solo travellers and friends travelling together.
A stay includes:
- breakfast;
- a private bathroom for each room;
- free Wi-Fi;
- air conditioning;
- internal parking;
- access to the garden and outdoor seating areas;
- use of a guest corner with a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery for preparing or storing simple meals;
- optional use of the outdoor tennis court by reservation.
The objective is not to offer unnecessary formality. It is to provide a well-organised base where guests can rest, plan their days and discover Spoleto and Umbria at their own pace.
Why stay in the countryside near Spoleto?
Staying outside the historic centre can be a practical choice for travellers visiting Umbria by car.
Adagio Umbro is approximately seven minutes by car from central Spoleto. Guests can visit the town during the day and return to a countryside setting with internal parking, outdoor space and easier access to regional driving routes.
From Spoleto, it is possible to organise day trips to places such as Montefalco, Trevi, Bevagna, the Valnerina, Norcia, Assisi and other towns across central Umbria.
For travellers planning a road trip through central Italy, Spoleto can also serve as a useful stop between Rome and northern Umbria or Tuscany.
A car is strongly recommended, both for reaching the property and for exploring the region comfortably.

We believe that good hospitality begins with clear information, realistic expectations and attention to practical details.

Adagio Umbro is intended for travellers who appreciate respectful shared spaces, a calm countryside setting and a more independent way of travelling.
We do not position the property as a luxury resort, family hotel or event venue. Our focus is accommodation, breakfast, practical comfort and a well-connected base for discovering Spoleto and Umbria.
For travellers who want more than a room
A stay at Adagio Umbro is also an opportunity to experience the area more closely.
We provide practical information about Spoleto, nearby towns, restaurants, local food, driving routes and places that may be difficult to discover without local guidance.
The outdoor tennis court offers an additional activity for guests who enjoy light sport during their stay. It is a secondary part of the experience, not the main identity of the B&B.
The purpose of Adagio Umbro is simple: to offer a small, well-prepared countryside base near Spoleto for travellers who want to explore Umbria with greater freedom, time and attention.
